How to Choose Curtains for a Saudi Majlis
Proportion, fabric weight and layering — the three decisions that make a majlis feel considered.

Get the height right first
A majlis usually has a high ceiling and wide windows, and the single biggest mistake is hanging the curtain at window height instead of near the ceiling. Taking the track up to the ceiling line lifts the whole room and makes the window look larger than it is.
Fabric weight carries the room
Velvet, jacquard and faux silk hold deep folds and give the formality a majlis is meant to have. Lighter fabrics can look thin against heavy seating and carved detail. If the majlis is also used in daylight, layer a sheer in front so the room is not dependent on the heavy drape being open.
Colour against the seating, not a catalogue
Always choose the fabric in the room itself, next to the seating and under the actual lighting. Majlis lighting is often warm and strong, and it shifts colours noticeably from how they look in a showroom.
